What's on the Horizon for September

I Want…?

How did you answer this question? Not “what” did you answer but “how” did you answer? How do we know what we want and how do we learn to form these desires?

These are some of the questions that we will explore in September as we look into wanting and desire. Here are some ways that you can join us on this journey.

We will be reading Wanting: The Power of Mimetic Desire in Everyday Life (https://lukeburgis.com/book/) by Luke Burgis. We will gather by Zoom to share our observations and insights about the book on September 30th at 8 pm. You may also find some of the vocabulary and concepts from this book popping up in our other conversations during the month.

We will look at ordered and disordered desire through the lens of Scripture during a four week discussion. Join us on Wednesday evenings beginning on September 8th at 7:45 pm on Zoom as we walk through Genesis 3:1-13 (8 SEP), Genesis 4:2b-7 (15 SEP), Matthew 6:25-33 (22 SEP), and Mark 10:46-52 (29 SEP).

Finally, in our blog posts, we will let the lives of the saints we commemorate this month illustrate the source and nature of desire and wanting. We will hear wisdom from the likes of Augustine of Hippo, Theresa of Calcutta, and the golden-mouthed church father, John Chrysostom.

We want you to want to join us! Please look out for more information in the coming days.
