Today is World Mental Health Day

The World Health Organization has designated October 10th as World Mental Health Day as a way to to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health.

Individual mental health is an important part of wholeness and the community has an important role in promoting mental wellbeing and responding to mental health challenges.

Thanks to a generous donation, Horizons is able to offer training in Mental Health First Aid. Mental Health First Aid is an evidence-based training that teaches participants how to identify, understand and respond to someone who is experiencing a mental health or substance-use challenge. Mental Health First Aid USA is a program of the National Council on Mental Wellbeing.

The Mental Health First Aid training consists of a 2 hour self-paced virtual learning module followed by a 5.5 hour instructor led online discussion. Please be watching as we schedule dates for training in the coming months. Class size is limited to 15 participants in each session. Please contact us if you would like additional information or if you would like to participate an upcoming training.
